Here it is, my second mutually selected Christmas present from the husband!
Yay, my not-at-all-a-surprise Christmas presents from my husband are here! Parfait’s Donna (bra size 32E, boyshorts size medium) arrived first, so I thought I should review it first.
First of all, I am so happy to have a black bra again. This is the first black set I’ve gotten in my “correct size,” and man, I’ve missed it! Which means that I’m currently being fairly forgiving of some not-so-great issues I’m having. Actually, just one issue. See if you can spot it: Continue reading
This is the second size of this bra that I’m reviewing. Even though neither size is a great fit, I want to use these reviews to show sister sizing in action.
Before I took the pictures for this review I would have told you this bra is a much better fit than the 34E that I reviewed last month. Theoretically, a 34E and a 32F should have the same cup volume. The 32F feels like exactly the same fit, but with a tighter band. Turns out, that’s not true.
Woohoo! A set that fits! I must admit that I’m still in the honeymoon phase with Parfait’s Charlotte. It’s so beautiful, it’s practically perfect, all of it’s flaws are just adorable quirks, I’m neglecting all of my other underwear because I want to spend all of my time with Charlotte, shut up, you don’t understand our love! That said, I will do my best to give an accurate and non-biased review.
I just don’t know when to quit. I said that I was happy enough with the Thrill Me. And I was, I really, really was. At least I was happy with it until I saw a Bratabase listing offering a 32F Tease Me in exchange for a 30F Curvy Kate Showgirl. That’s when my mind started going “what if?” What if going up a cup size in a balcony style Showgirl locks down the right fit? See, the Tease Me is the only CK Showgirl bra that I haven’t tried yet. The 30FF Tempt Me seemed basically okay in the cups but the plunge style wasn’t working out. I traded that for the 30F Thrill Me, which ended up being just a smidgen too small. I really hoped that the Tease Me would be my “baby bear’s bed” of the Showgirl collection. Is it?
This bra is the first bra in ordered in my “correct size” according to several different online calculators, along with two others that fit so badly that I got rid of them. It’s not the best fit, but it’s workable. Plus it was one of two bras I owned at the time that were anywhere close.
I really want to stress that there is nothing wrong with the online calculators that I used. Some of them are linked in the “Resources” section at the top of the page. Reputable online calculators are as accurate as it gets outside of a professional fitting. Sometimes they give the correct size, but sometimes all they can do is provide a good starting point. An online calculator just can’t account for the wide variance of breast type and shape. For me personally, I usually need to move down one size from the given 34 E in both the band and the cup. Pretty sure this is because of soft breast tissue and fat around the ribcage.
Anyway, on to the review!
Please excuse the “selfies in the bathroom” pictures for this review. My bathroom has the second-best lighting in the house. I usually take the pictures in the hallway but both of my kids were asleep by the time I got around to this and I didn’t want to chance waking them. So I balanced my phone on the medicine cabinet shelf, stood on a (closed) training potty, and did my best. Like the pros do. 🙂 Anyway, to the reviewing!
Better than I expected for a molded cup bra from the clearance rack at Marshalls. Surprisingly better.
Just a quick post today because the common cold is trying to kill me. This weekend is supposed to be filled with Halloween fun that I’m going to do my best to have a good time at for my children’s sake. If that wipes me out too much, Something Else Sundays might happen on Monday instead.
Anyway, I got a white Lucy from a Bratabase user and I’m pretty happy about it. Let’s squee over it together!
Almost, man. Almost. I think Curvy Kate will be a great brand for me once I lock down the right size and/or style. I’m having a rough time with the Showgirl bras. You might remember that I reviewed the Tempt Me in a 30FF, and that had a too-wide gore, and maybe, possibly a too-large cup. I decided to try out the Thrill Me in a 30F. I went ahead on the smaller cup just in case part of the problem with the Tempt Me was in fact the cup size. Plus the measurements for the 30F seemed good. But I think maybe I should have stuck with FF, because I’m spilling out a bit. This could be an error in sizing on my part. Or it could be due to the seriously shallow cups. Seriously. If you don’t have shallow breasts, you should probably give this one a pass.
