Soak Lingerie Wash Review

A few months ago I wrote a post about proper bra washing. At that time I was washing my delicates with borax and baby shampoo, and that works just fine, but I’ve been curious about all of the different lingerie washes available. One that I’ve seen mentioned a lot is Soak, which I’ve actually come across more often in the crocheting corners of the internet that I lurk in than the lingerie corners.

Wishlist Wednesday: Inspired by Conversation Hearts

When I think about Valentine’s Day, my first thought isn’t flowers or chocolate or romance…it’s conversation hearts.

Yeah, those chalky little candies. I don’t know why. I don’t even really like the damn things. (Though I can make an exception if they’re in the form of that cake up there. Those candies are decorating an absolutely delicious-sounding strawberries and cream cake made by Ali at Gimme Some Oven. I want to eat that. Actually, I want to eat a lot of the stuff on that site…)

Since conversation hearts are my (understandable but a little weird) go-to Valentine’s Day mental image, I thought that today I’d show you guys some gorgeous pieces that come in colors to match them! This entry is going to be heavy on pictures and rather light on information. I usually include shopping options and links to reviews on my Wishlists, but life is hectic right now, as I alluded to in my last post. The happy news is that it’s hectic because my 17 year old sister has come to live with us, but unhappily, that comes with quite a lot of paperwork to fill out, phone calls to make (I hate phone calls so much), and errands to run. Hopefully things will be calming down around here shortly. I am including available sizes here, though. I know how much it sucks to fall in love with a bra and not know if it comes in your size until you investigate further. Best to get the disappointment over with quickly, I think!

Anyway, on to the undies! Continue reading

Something Else Sunday: Non-Lingerie Valentine’s Gifts

Woo, am I having some family problems in my personal life! It is stressful, to say the least. I’ll be trying my best to keep up with the blog but if I disappear, I’m handling some stuff that needs handling and I’ll be back ASAP. So, since my personal life is all heavy right now, I want to write a nice, light, fluffy post.

The previous and next (and maybe the one after that…) Wishlist Wednesday posts are all about Valentine’s Day inspired lingerie, but maybe that’s not the type of gift you like to give or receive. No worries! I have lots of ideas for gifts that are still great but appropriate outside of the bedroom.

Wishlist Wednesday: Pink!

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, so I thought I’d continue my color-themed Wishlists with pink this week. Pink is a difficult color for me. I’m not anti-pink or anything, but I don’t own or wear much of it. Definitely not on my list of favorite colors. So this list was actually a little hard for me to put together, but I came up with four sets that belong to the pink family that I would actually enjoy wearing.

In Which I Ramble About My Feelings

Hold on to your hats, here comes some honesty! And probably incorrect grammar. And maybe some spelling mistakes.

Yeah, I haven’t written a post in three weeks. I have three reviews to write.  I’ve missed several Wishlist Wednesdays and Something Else Sundays. I’ve barely glanced at Facebook or Pinterest lately. I’ve only read a handful of bra blog posts over the past few weeks; usually I read at least a handful a day. So what’s my problem?

I’m having a hard time liking my body right now. Continue reading

Wishlist Wednesday: Neutrals (and my problem with nude)

I mentioned in last week’s Wishlist Wednesday that while color can really bring out the beauty in a bra that isn’t always apparent in a beige, there are some beige bras that I really like the look of. Here are some of them!

One of my favorites is Freya’s Lacey Plunge Balcony bra in Cafe Latte. I don’t know if a non-molded plunge would work better for me than a molded one (which is “not well at all”) but I’m willing to try for polka dots. Lacey is available in 28 D-G, 30 D-K, 34-36 C-K, and 38 C-JJ. Matching brief and thong available in XS-XL, short available in 2XL. (UK sizing)

Where can I buy this?
Freya’s website shows the Lacey as part of their “Essentials” (i.e. neutral continuity line, generally), but several shopping sites are showing this model as discontinued. It is still available at FreshPair.

I’m here for the reviews!
Great reviews can be found at Bras and Body Image and Busts 4 Justice!

Wishlist Wednesday: Purple!

Happy New Year! I’m super excited for 2014! Want to know one of the reasons why?

Because Affinitas/Parfait gave The Lingerie Journal a sneak peek of their AW14 line, and this beauty is in there! Purple Charlotte, you guys! I’m so buying that!

Purple is a funny color for me. I like purple, but I’m very, very picky about it. It’s not even a matter of liking some shades better than others, though I tend to prefer darker purples (but not always.) I don’t have an art or design background to draw from to explain myself articulately here, but I guess I need the color and design to work together in some mysterious way. For instance, Parfait’s Danielle (AW13) looks fairly similar to the upcoming Charlotte, colorwise, but it just doesn’t speak to me.

Again, it’s not the design; I rather like the “dusty rose” version of this set. And it’s not the color; this is a color I like and I know looks good on me. It’s something about the way that the color and the design work together that unfortunately falls flat for me.
So what purple bras do I like right now? Here’s three more of them, presented in no order and selected for reasons that I can’t really specify!

Something Else Sunday: I Made Things!

A few weeks ago I asked you guys to help me come up with ideas for nice, inexpensive gifts.  Faustineli (awesome bra blog at that link) mentioned that she does a lot of knitting.  Now I’ve never knitted, and besides, my sister-in-law has pretty much cornered the market on knitting in this family.  However,  I remembered that I used to know how to crochet and I didn’t hate doing it. So I thought, why not give it a go?

I have become a crocheting monster.

Parfait Donna Review

Yay, my not-at-all-a-surprise Christmas presents from my husband are here! Parfait’s Donna (bra size 32E, boyshorts size medium) arrived first, so I thought I should review it first.

Yay, there's a filter on that. It makes me feel better; I'm pretty naked there.

Yeah, there’s a filter on that. It makes me feel better; I’m pretty naked there.

First of all, I am so happy to have a black bra again. This is the first black set I’ve gotten in my “correct size,” and man, I’ve missed it! Which means that I’m currently being fairly forgiving of some not-so-great issues I’m having. Actually, just one issue. See if you can spot it: Continue reading
